"In the nose, lemon cream, Key-Lime pie, and floral aromas combine with honey, sweet vanilla, and fresh pineapple flavors in the mouth. The wine has a rich, viscous mouthfeel, yet finishes with a long citrusy, balanced acidity."

Rae's is Cambria's boldest amplification of flavors from our estate. This winegrowing style, personally selected by our proprietor Barbara Banke, concentrates the inherent ripe and tropical flavors of Chardonnay from this region into a seamless and elegant wine.
Vineyard
The fruit for our small production of Rae's Chardonnay is selected in the vineyard as the winegrowing team watches the grape development in early summer. Vintage driven, the specific location on the Cambria estate, from which we source Rae's may vary from year to year. Nonetheless, the entire estate is naturally poised for growing distinctively developed Chardonnay. Formed from alluvial deposits Cambria's gravelly, well draining soils restrict vine vigor to promote the growth of fruit with concentrated flavors. The maritime influences that funnel in the Pacific Ocean cloak the Santa Maria Valley in mild temperatures. This will extend the vineyard's growing season to provide ample balance for the fruit's acid profile and develop optimal flavors.
In the vineyard, the development of fruit lays the foundation for flavor and quality, in addition to setting the stage for our winemaking process. Cambria utilizes certain vineyard management techniques such as leaf thinning allowing more sunlight to reach the clusters. This will also allow for full, even ripening and development of concentrated fruit flavors.
